DESCRIPTION:Revival press are pleased to announce the publication of ‘The Thought of Seeing’ by US poet Louis Bourne. \nIn this overdue\, welcome first collection of poems in English by Louis Bourne\, who has given so much time and talent to translating other poets’ work. The book launch will be proceeded by a reading from poet John Liddy. John Liddy was born in Co. Cork 1954. He grew up in Limerick and took a degree with The University of Wales. SUMMARY:Remembering Michael Hartnett - A language Seldom Spoken
DESCRIPTION:In association with Foras na Gaeilg.\nA timely lecture\, in Irish and English\, on the work of Co Limerick poet Michael Hartnett\, whose 20th anniversary occurs this year. Dr John McDonagh and Dr Stephen Newman of Mary Immaculate College will look at examples of his poetry in Irish following his ‘Farewell to English’ in 1975. I will also discuss his translation of poems by 17th century Limerick poet\, Dáibhí Ó Bruadair. Dr John McDonaghwill also explore Hartnett’s Inchicore Haiku poems from 1985 and some poems charting his closest personal relationships. \nDr John Mc Donagh is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at Mary Immaculate College\, Limerick. He is the author of five books\, including works on Brendan Kennelly\, Michael Hartnett and Paul Durcan.\nOriginally from Milford\, Co. Cork\, Dr Stephen Newman work \ns in the Department of Irish\, MIC. Among his interests are: Modern literature in the Irish language\, the Blasket Autobiographies and the Irish manuscript tradition’. Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free.
