Description

This is an important book and essential reading for anyone who is interested in the human condition and how easy it is to become marginalised.   The poems in here not so much speak to us – but scream, and are an important reflection on a group of people who have been neglected and scorned by modern society –  people addicted to drugs and alcohol, people effected by mental health problems, people who died by suicide and the huge impact on their families.
The poems tell stories about real people, their heartbreaks but also their hope. This is one of the new faces of Ireland. Take a good long look, and then ask yourself how far you are from being depicted in one of these poems.  Not as far as you think, perhaps.
With an introduction by Fr Peter McVerry of the Peter McVerry Trust, this anthology engages both the heart and mind and portrays an often heart wrenching depiction of the impact of addiction.
Some of the contributors have travelled a difficult road but in here you will find your brothers, your sisters, your neighbours, and your sons and daughters.

This anthology was produced in cooperation and in partnership with the Mid-West Regional Drugs and Alcohol Forum and was distributed free on the launch night. It is available here for those who may wish to purchase a copy.

For anyone experiencing difficulties with drugs or alcohol (or related issues) you can contact the Forum here: http://mwrdtf.ie/
