Book Launch: Shades of Red by Vivienne McKechnie (Revival Press)
Wednesday, 7.30pm
The People’s Museum of Limerick, 2 Pery Sq., Limerick
Revival Press is proud to announce the launch of Shades of Red, the powerful new poetry collection from Limerick poet Vivienne McKechnie, taking place at 7.30pm in The People’s Museum of Limerick. The launch will be performed by author Donal Ryan.
In this deeply personal and finely observed book, McKechnie traces the shifting contours of loss, love, and memory across the Irish landscape. Her poems move from the stark horror of Tuam’s unmarked graves to the quiet heartbreak of farewells at Shannon Airport; from pets buried under apple trees to children building futures far from home. Each poem becomes a waypoint in a wider emotional geography — one shaped by separation, resilience, and the fierce bonds that endure.
Shades of Red explores the distances that open between us: between parent and child, past and present, human and animal, the living and the lost. Yet through every divide runs a steady current of love, rendered with McKechnie’s characteristic clarity, tenderness, and truthfulness.
This launch marks another highlight in Limerick’s vibrant literary calendar, bringing readers together in the atmospheric surroundings of the People’s Museum to celebrate a collection that speaks to the heart of Irish experience.
All are warmly invited to attend and share in an evening of poetry, conversation, and community.
