Sense of Place by Tom McElligott

A rain‑soaked encounter on a bridge draws a tired commuter into the orbit of an old tramp whose life is far richer – and far darker – than his battered cup suggests. As their wary conversations deepen, a hidden past emerges: childhood warmth, family bonds, loss, addiction, and the long struggle toward survival. Sense of Place is a moving, sharply observed novel about identity, memory, and the fragile threads that connect us. A story about listening, being seen, and finding meaning in the unlikeliest of places.
