Hailing originally from the highest village in Ireland, Meelin, Co Cork, Fiona Fitzpatrick lives in nearby Charleville with her family and has spent most of her working life as a teacher in Salesian Primary school, Limerick. As an activist and campaigner, it has always been important to her to use her voice on various issues of importance. Her aim is to make connections through words. This collection, a mixture of formal and free poetry, focuses not only on themes of social justice but also on loss and grief, that journey, to ultimately surviving and finding hope.

Description

This is another beautiful selection of poems from Fiona on a variety of engaging, vulnerable and topical themes, mostly of personal and family experiences. There are a number of wonderful poems dedicated to natural and spiritual mothers. The use of repetitive lines (refrain) in each stanza in other poems is highly effective. And the closing lines or stanzas of every poem makes it complete and locked.
