EVELYN –
Following his Oscar winning The White Helmets, Orlando von Einsiedel turns his camera on his own family as they attempt to cope with a devastating loss. When his brother, newly diagnosed as schizophrenic and suffering from intense depression, took his own life at 22, Orlando and his other two siblings buried the trauma, rarely talking about it. Over a decade later, the remaining family set out on a hiking tour, visiting landscapes Evelyn liked to walk, to reflect on his life and death. The result is an intensely personal and moving take on the emotional impact of suicide within a family and a powerful account of the benefits of creating safe spaces for emotional communication. Shot in a subjective style and against the stunning backdrop of the British countryside, Evelyn is an emotionally raw film that documents the difficult, yet rewarding, attempt to navigate the rocky highlands of collective trauma. As a radio producer, KEVIN O’CONNOR made hundreds of features and dozens of documentaries, notably A Death In January (1982) about the maverick Sean Bourke who engineered the prison escape in London of the KGB spy George Blake and The Limerick Soviet about a then relatively unknown episode during the War of Independence.
As a writer he has published Ironing the Land (railways) Thou Shalt Not Kill (crime) Blake and Bourke (espionage) and most recently a biography of the Russian-Irish painter, Harry Kernoff

KEVIN HIGGINS, whose best-selling first collection, The Boy With No Face, published by Salmon Poetry, was short-listed for the 2006 Strong Award for Best First Collection by an Irish poet. Kevin’s second collection of poems, Time Gentlemen, Please, was published in 2008 by Salmon Poetry and his poetry is discussed in The Cambridge Introduction to Modern Irish Poetry. His third collection Frightening New Furniture was published in 2010 by Salmon and his work also appears in the generation defining anthology Identity Parade –New British and Irish Poets (Ed. Roddy Lumsden, Bloodaxe, 2010). A collection of Kevin’s essays and book reviews, Mentioning The War, was published in 2012 by Salmon Poetry. His New and Selected Poems was published in 2017 and his most recent collection Sex and Death at Merlin Park Hospital was published by Salmon this June. His work has been broadcast on RTE Radio, Lyric FM, and BBC Radio 4.

EVE’S RECORD BOX are a jazz trio from Limerick, comprising electric guitar, double bass and a singer. This scintillating Trio has a rich pedigree featuring the vibrant singing of Jane Fraser backed up by the sophisticated sound of Paddy Shanahan on guitar and Rory Murphy on double bass.
