We kicked off the new year with an electrifying event on January 4th, and we’re thrilled to sustain the momentum into February 7th with another amazing guest poet, Carrie Barrett.
Carrie, a published playwright and poet hailing from Limerick City (currently residing in Co. Clare), has an impressive background in the arts. As the inaugural participant in the Abbey Theatre’s 5X5 project, she crafted monologues that later became integral to the play ‘Bingo!’, premiered at the Belltable Theatre in Limerick. In 2021, ‘Bingo!’ was published by the Limerick Writers’ Centre as part of the anthology ‘Four Limerick Plays’. Her residency at The Liverpool Irish Festival in 2022 showcased her poetic prowess, with her poem ‘Home’ gracing the pages of the festival’s magazine.
Carrie’s achievements include being the recipient of Poetry Ireland’s Poetry Town Bursary in 2021. Currently pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at The Lir – National Academy of Dramatic Arts, Trinity College, Dublin, Carrie consistently contributes to various projects. Notable mentions include her participation in Abbey Theatre’s Dear Ireland III in collaboration with Adapt Domestic Abuse Services in 2021, the 24-hour Plays at The Limetree Theatre in Limerick in 2019, and In:Visible Women at the Liverpool Irish Festival in 2018.
