New Novel ‘Promoted to Hell’ by Co Clare writer Brian Comerford to be Launched in Kilrush Library on Saturday, 14th November at 7.30pm.
Published by Savoy Editions, the new fiction imprint of the Limerick Writers’ Centre, ‘Promoted to Hell’ will be launched by acclaimed journalist and writer Liam Horan. Both Horan and Comerford were shortlisted in the 2025 Gerald Griffin Competition for First Adult Fiction, with Horan winning the award. Their appearance together at the launch celebrates two writers whose work has received national recognition.
Set against a backdrop of ambition, loyalty, and the often-absurd realities of modern life, ‘Promoted to Hell’ is a darkly humorous novel with a strong comic voice and a vivid sense of place. It feels like a cross between The Guard, Whiskey Galore, and classic Irish rural fiction.
The launch event promises to be an enjoyable evening of literature and conversation, featuring readings from the novel and an opportunity for readers to meet the author. Copies of ‘Promoted to Hell’ will be available for purchase and signing on the night.
Liam Horan, author and journalist will formally launch the book and speak about the novel and its significance within contemporary Irish writing.
