Description

Sandra Lefroy is William Wordsworth’s great-great-great-great niece, being descended in direct family line from the poet’s youngest brother, Christopher.   Although born and educated in Dublin, Sandra has lived for many years with her “feet in the Shannon”, having lived firstly in Portumna at the northern end of Lough Derg and subsequently in Killaloe at the southern tip of the lake.   Following a long involvement with amateur dramatics, Sandra turned to writing in the early 1990s with the original Killaloe Writers’ Group.   She was a regular contributor to the RTE Radio One “Sunday Miscellany” programme for several years and has also featured on Lyric FM’s  “Quiet Quarter”.   She has had poetry and prose published in a number of magazines and anthologies, including the “Stony Thursday Book” and the “Creel” and has also written and presented an account of her family’s involvement with their heritage boat, the Phoenix.   Sandra is an active member of the Hedge School Writers’ Group in Killaloe.
