Racing Down the Sun brings together poems written over the past number of years. This is Ron’s second poetry collection and follows on from his hughly successful debut collection Distance – which was nominated for the prestigious Forward Prize for poetry. Racing Down the Sun, explores the themes of life extraordinary and builds on the promise of that first collection. The poems range from family relationships to classical mythology, from converted churches to goldmining in Africa. These themes are conveyed with a lyrical thoughtfulness that is vivid, precise and startlingly emotional.
