‘Wise, learned, perceptive and shrewd about life’s frailty, Liam Ryan’s poetry encapsulates a world
entire, a world complete. His best work is that ‘quoin stone/ chiselled and chamfered’ and in poem after
poem – from ‘Call to Prayer’ to ‘The Ambulance Doors’ – he assembles a very precise verbal drama,
poetry that pulls us into its compelling dynamic. He is a poet for whom I’ve always had the highest regard
and this new collection contains work of the most sublime wisdom, an adamant wisdom and tone for
which he’s become famous.’
